Gloucestershire, UK, 20 September 2011 – Street works management software from Mayrise Systems is helping keep local authorities on top of road works and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has become the latest Welsh council to use a new web hosted service. The online Mayrise system will record street works activities across the County Borough, co-ordinate works and events that affect the highway and generate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and management reports. With software held and updated centrally the Council will be able to keep up to date with changing legislation and working practices without needing to worry about software upgrades.
"Mayrise software is used to record, co-ordinate and report on all street works activities and events across the County Borough whether they are promoted by a utility company, private organisation or our internal departments," commented Jeremy Morgan, Highways Network Group Manager, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. "This helps us comply with our duties in line with the Traffic Management Act of 2004 while offering residents, businesses and visitors an efficient and effective service.
MAYRISE for Street Works allows the Council to record all street works activities across the County Borough, including an ambitious programme of works to repair roads damaged by a second bad winter period. The software facilitates the co-ordination of works and events that may affect the Highway Network, reducing unnecessary disruption for road users, and allows easy analysis of data and running of reports. In addition to the core street works package the Council has chosen Mayrise to host the application effectively providing software as a service (SaaS) solution.
"We decided to opt for the hosted service due to the ever changing nature of the Street Works process," continued Morgan. "Over recent years Street Works practices and software have changed dramatically to comply with new legislation. By moving to a hosted system, it reduces the need for the Council's ICT Department to support and upgrade this specialist system. We are also confident that the software will reflect changes in legislation as and when they occur."
Mayrise Online combines a core expertise managing complex communication infrastructures and applications with connectivity and hosting solutions from Kcom. The service also includes expert technicians who monitor the system around the clock ensuring data security and system performance. Utilising the very latest Microsoft Server and virtualisation technologies, authorised users can access, via the Internet, the remotely hosted Mayrise application. A secure and encrypted high-speed connection to a dedicated server enables seamless integration and joined up working between the customers' remotely hosted data, applications and web services to internal network resources, 3rd party applications and data.
