The MAYRISE street lighting management software is now available as a fully portable system running on rugged tablet-style PC’s. Engineers can now use exactly the same software whether in or out the office. With access all the required advanced functionality including digital mapping, more work to be done in the field. The development eliminates the need for paper forms as records are updated directly into the system.
Mayrise has taken advantage of the new GoBook computers from Itronix. These compact tablet-style PC’s are specially designed for use in harsh outdoor environments and have the same specification as a desktop PC. As well as being ideal for use on site during surveys, inspections and maintenance work, they provide a true mobile office facility for working away from the office.
Mayrise already supplies field data collection applications using handy PDA devices which are ideal for simple data collection tasks such as inspections. The GoBook however offers the added functionality needed for street lighting management including the display of maps with map overlays that can be updated on the touch-screen display.
Measuring 27 x 18cm and weighing just 1.7 kg, the GoBook is the smallest and lightest rugged Tablet PC available. It supports wireless networking and operates on Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, with processing power provided by an Intel ultra-low voltage 866-MHz mobile Pentium III processor.
