Norfolk County Council and May Gurney, the integrated construction services provider, have implemented a MAYRISE system to manage the delivery of lighting services through the Norfolk Strategic Partnership.
Staff in Norfolk County Council's Customer Service Centre have access to MAYRISE through a web based XML front end. This enables them to access the street lighting database in order to identify a specific unit, a fault is then logged on the system associated to that unit. May Gurney, recently ranked seventeenth in the Sunday Times KPMG HSBC Top Track 250, selected the information management solution from Mayrise Systems to manage the ongoing maintenance and management of lighting units throughout the County. The partnership between May Gurney and Norfolk County Council was established in April 2004 and covers a wide range of highways based surfaces including road surfacing, road maintenance and improvements, as well as street lighting. The partnership has responsibility for sixty-one thousand streetlights and illuminated road signs including lighting units that are owned by two of county’s district councils. The MAYRISE system enables the partnership to maintain an accurate record of all lighting assets including location and maintenance history. The system also enables the management of ongoing maintenance and fault repairs from the initial point of reporting through to the production of monthly management reports. The Department of Planning & Transportation Street Lighting section of Norfolk County Council reviews logged faults and produces work orders as applicable. These work orders are then issued to May Gurney Engineers in order for them to investigate and repair. The MAYRISE system is also used to manage the ongoing maintenance cycle with the automated production of timely work orders and management of projects that require new installations. “Previous investigations had showed that the MAYRISE system was the one we wanted. The fact that MAYRISE delivered us a working system to a very tight deadline proved we made the right decision.” Said Stephen Littleboy, Street Lighting Engineer at Norfolk County Council. His colleague Mike Burrows, Project Manager at May Gurney with responsibility for street lighting within the Norfolk Strategic Partnership continued “MAYRISE gives us the flexibility to produce customised ad hoc reports, it is easy to use and provides the complete history of a specific unit at the click of a button.” Reader enquiries to Mark Clarke at Mayrise Systems: Tel. 01453 827 400 |
