Mayrise mobilises highways inspectors Print E-mail
Mobile InspectionsMayrise Systems has developed a live highways inspections system to help improve safety on Britain’s roads and walkways.  The system, which uses standard PDAs linked to central management systems via mobile phone networks, provides an instant and paperless way of reporting from the field. Highways inspectors can instantly transmit their reports on defects, such as potholes and loose paving slabs, to speed up repairs by maintenance teams.

The mobile devices also incorporate Mobile MapNow® software which allows maps to be viewed and updated in the field.  Digital maps and asset overlays covering an entire region can be stored on a high capacity memory cards for use on any compatible device.

The inspection reports are received by a central MAYRISE™ Highways system that holds asset information, street gazetteer, maps and records of all defects.  Maintenance schedules and details of any complaints received from the public are transmitted automatically from this central system, updating each inspector’s PDA together with inspection sequenced route maps.

Traditionally highways inspectors have relied on printed schedules and maps with hand-filled report forms.  Automating this has cut considerable amounts of paperwork and eliminated the keying in of reports, as well as allowing more consistent and accurate reporting.  With wireless interchange of data, inspectors are able to undertake all their work without returning to the office.  This, coupled with the elimination of data entry, saves considerable time, significantly boosting work efficiency and service levels.

MAYRISE Highways automates client service functions and simplifies the management of highways maintenance contracts, recording defects and generating schedules for cyclic maintenance using a street gazetteer. The system also provides contractor and remote sites access, integration with street works systems, and XML web schemas for linking to contact centres and e-government services.

Mayrise Systems is a leading supplier of e-government integrated systems for managing local authority services.  The company also specialises in system integration; serving live service data to contact centres and web applications using a standard XML interface.
