MAYRISE supports multi-million Pound Cambridge Water contract Print E-mail

MR_Cambs_WEB.jpgMay Gurney, the integrated support and construction services company, has implemented an advanced software solution from Mayrise Systems to manage street works on behalf of Cambridge Water.  In a £3.5 million per annum contract that covers water network repairs, maintenance, metering and renewal, over 3,000 street work notices have already been raised using the system.

The software, MAYRISE™ Street Works, is used to generate and serve notices of intended works to the local street authority, in this case Cambridgeshire County Council.  The system automatically transmits notices, via the web, to the relevant authority and actively monitors ongoing works and inspection results.  In addition, MAYRISE provides up to date and accurate records for the management of ongoing projects.  Easy access to detailed project information improves the quality of inspection reports and reduces the number of penalties incurred as a result of overrun works.

“We generate an average of fifteen to twenty notices per day and it is essential that we can automatically transmit these notices and monitor individual projects.” Said Peter Stevens, NRSWA Agent. “MAYRISE is very easy to use. It has reduced the amount of time and effort it takes to generate notices, it is compatible with the systems at the Council and we can generate project or management reports as and when required.”

Advance notification of intended street works is required by law under Section 74 of the Roads and Street Works Act. This Act places a duty on both the street authority and companies who are licensed to undertake street works, to co-ordinate all works in the highway to ensure safety, minimise inconvenience and protect the structure of the highway and associated apparatus.

“We made a concerted effort to develop our performance and data management systems, and these are an integral element of our contract with Cambridge Water,” said Ian Edwards, Utility Services Director of May Gurney.
