David Webster Limited has implemented systems from Mayrise to help manage a £27.5 million Private Finance Initiative (PFI) awarded by Barnet Council for Street Lighting services. MAYRISE Street Works and MailNow® systems automate the co-ordination of maintenance works and manage correspondence with residents. The system also enables David Webster Ltd (DWL) to manage the installation of 21,000 replacement columns and 5,000 new columns over the course of the 25-year contract.
DWL are specialists in the provision of external lighting and highways infrastructure installations to Local Authorities, civil contractors and private sector developers. Under the Barnet PFI project DWL will be responsible for the design, management, installation and ongoing repair of approximately 30,000 units in Barnet plus an additional 25,000 units in neighbouring Enfield. The contract follows a two year joint procurement process and was awarded to DWL in a joint venture with Investors in the Community.
MAYRISE Street Works is used to process and manage requests for street lighting installation or maintenance works that require DWL or their contractors to carry out work on the highway. Under section 59 of the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1999, local authorities have a statutory obligation to co-ordinate all works on the highway. MAYRISE Street Works is used by DWL to issue notices of intended works to Barnet Council, ensure planned works do not clash with any other contractor who may be working in the vicinity and to track the progress of works and provide detailed and accurate management reports.
"The MAYRISE Street Works system is invaluable to us," said Samantha Bateman, Administration Assistant at DWL. "Using MAYRISE we can ensure that our highways works are carried out within the required timescales and without compromising other works on the highway. In addition, using the advanced filters within the system, we accurately can track, manage and report on the progression of works."
In addition DWL are using MailNow from Mayrise to record and manage the reporting of defective lighting from local residents. Faulty units can be automatically reported to DWL from the council's website, using a dedicated email address or via a 24-hour call centre. All subsequent communications with the public are recorded within MailNow giving DWL an easy to use, yet highly effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
