Balfour Beatty keep lights bright with real-time Mayrise system Print E-mail
mr-bb00005_web.jpgBalfour Beatty is boosting its services using advanced asset management software from Mayrise Systems to deliver three Private Finance Initiative (PFI) street lighting contracts. The three projects, with a combined value of £198 million, include the maintenance of more than 115,000 street lights and illuminated signs together with the installation of 63,000 new units. The MAYRISE Street Lighting systems, which include live-linked mobile PDAs, street mapping and connections to call centre systems, are being used by operations and support staff for the management of information and the control of maintenance and installation works.
MAYRISE is used by Balfour Beatty’s operating company, Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services who carry out the maintenance work and core investment programmes that form the PFI contracts on behalf of The City of Sunderland Council, South Tyneside Borough Council and Derby City Council. “Mayrise Systems provides what has become an invaluable tool for managing our contracts and the software is helping us improve the management of over 100,000 street light assets,” said Paul Stoddart Systems, Planning and Asset Manager. “The system provides centralised asset information and allows us to accurately track and report on the performance of PFI projects.”

MAYRISE Street Lighting provides an integrated solution for the asset and work management of the PFI’s.  The system holds detailed information for every asset including maintenance records and Electrical and Structural test results and history.  A Mayrise developed adaptor links the street lighting system to local authority Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems ensuring customer facing staff have access to up to the minute service information.  “Mayrise seamlessly integrates with third party devices, software and our own suite of bespoke analysis tools giving us an end-to-end solution,” continued Stoddart. “The software is easy to use with an intuitive user interface.”

Dynamic links to hand held PDA devices improve the provision of both reactive and planned maintenance works and facilitate the collection of asset information and the reporting and management of faults.  MAYRISE also links to Tom-tom satellite navigation systems helping Balfour Beatty’s engineers locate and identify assets in the field. Balfour Beatty use MapNow, the integrated mapping software from Mayrise Systems, to provide real world context for asset information, geographical analysis of their data and map displays.
