Mayrise Helps Keep Northumberland Traffic Moving |

Gloucestershire, 23 April 2008 - Northumberland County Council has implemented an integrated street works management solution from Mayrise Systems. With new government legislation MAYRISE Street Works will help the Council manage requests for works on the highway from utility companies, Council departments and other permitted contractors, reducing congestion and minimising disruption to residents, visitors and business.
MAYRISE Street Works is specifically designed to help local authorities co-ordinate works on the highways in compliance with the Traffic Management Act (TMA) regulations that came into effect on the 1st April of this year.
Northumberland County Council is responsible for 5,100 km of public roads in the north east of England, granting an estimated 16,000 permissions to work on the highway per annum and confirming all works are carried out in accordance with current regulations and accepted working practices. Through a scheduled programme of inspections the Council also ensures that the highway is fully reinstated on completion of works.
"Following an extensive review of both our IT systems and current working practices and processes we decided that a single source supplier for both highways maintenance and street works management would ensure stream lining and clarity when managing and monitoring our own works through the TMA alongside the works of utility companies," said Ruth Bendell, Highways Asset and Network Manager. "In addition Mayrise demonstrated compatibility with both our Pavement Management System, our in house developed databases and the Council's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system as well as offering an integrated mapping solution saving unnecessary expenditure on additional software licences."
MAYRISE Street Works is a complete solution for managing street works. Handling the Street Works Register, National Street Gazetteer maintenance, inspections management, defect reporting and locational referencing, the system eliminates paperwork, ensures best practice and provides up to date information on the status of all works. Developed to help highway authorities comply with the latest EToN 4 legislation, the system handles the electronic posting and routing of Street Works Notices and Inspection Results.
In addition MAYRISE Street Works is fully integrated with MapNow mapping software. Handling both Ordnance Survey's MasterMap Integrated Transport Network (ITN) layer and the National Street Gazetteer MapNow provides an easy to use solution for mapping works locations, inspection routes and defect reports.
"We were already using a Mayrise system for the management of street lighting and therefore had a very positive experience of the technical support philosophy to reinforce our decision making," concluded Ruth Bendell.
